Exhibiting at University & College Campuses, Mumbai
Auditoriums and grounds used for education fairs, tech fests and placement expos. We design, fabricate, install and dismantle stalls here, with the organiser drawings and approvals prepared as part of the project rather than quoted as an extra.
Two stands of identical size can need completely different engineering depending on the room they go into. Height limits, rigging availability, fixing restrictions, power allocation and build hours all change with the venue, and all of them are settled in writing before fabrication starts.
Of the 19 Mumbai venues we cover, this one occupies the institutional end of it — many small stands, a modest budget and a timetable that belongs to the campus. Exhibitors tend to compare venues on footfall and cost; builders compare them on access, fixing and power, and on that measure the gap between the extremes of the Mumbai list is very wide.
As a Tier 1 exhibition city, Mumbai carries 8 named venues as well as 11 venue categories, which is why two shows in the same week can need entirely different builds. The practical consequence of that density is congestion at build-up: shared bays, lift queues and a hard clearance deadline that nobody moves.
Building on a university or college campus
What governs a campus build is the institution's own timetable. Trucks come through a named gate in a named hour, the hall is free between sessions rather than for a day, estate staff rather than an organiser control the power, and the whole thing has to be struck before teaching resumes. Modular construction and reusable graphics are what make that economic for an annual fair.
University & college campuses vary from one address to the next even inside Mumbai, so the figures below are the pattern rather than the contract. The organiser's pack for your show is what we actually design to.
What changes at university & college campuses
| Build input | At university & college campuses |
|---|---|
| Access route & panel sizes | Specific gates in specific hours, then a carry to the auditorium or the ground. Modular sections two people can lift beat panels that need four, because the last fifty metres are usually by hand. |
| Fixing method | Freestanding on finished floors indoors; pegged or ballasted on grounds. Auditorium seating, stages and fittings are left untouched, which means working around them rather than through them. |
| Power source | Limited campus distribution shared with the building's normal use. Lighting loads are kept modest and anything heavy is confirmed with the estate office rather than assumed. |
| Floor protection | Protection over auditorium, corridor and foyer floors, and platform flooring on quadrangles and grounds. Grass and paving are reinstated after strike as part of the job. |
| Build & strike hours | Worked around classes, examinations and campus security timings, which in practice means early mornings, evenings or a weekend rather than a continuous window. |
| Weather & environment | Depends on the space, and many campus fairs run indoors and outdoors at once — which makes them two specifications under one brief. |
Every row here is a design input rather than a detail. Two stands of identical area in Mumbai can need completely different engineering because these six answers differ, which is why we settle them before anything is cut.
How we build for this kind of venue
- Modular systems for fast, repeatable builds across many small stands
- Vehicle access restricted to specified gates and hours
- Sections sized for two people and a stair rather than for a trolley
- Built and struck around class, examination and security timings
- Platform flooring on quadrangles and grounds, with turf reinstated after strike
- Reusable graphics and frames for a fair that repeats every year
What to ask the organiser about university & college campuses
Most of what goes wrong at university & college campuses goes wrong because a question was not asked early. These are the ones worth asking before you brief a designer, let alone a fabricator.
Get these in writing before you brief anyone
- The power available per stand and which department controls the supply
- Lift availability and the stair route where there is no lift
- Who on the estate or faculty side signs off the build, and when
- Floor-protection expectations for indoor spaces and reinstatement for grounds
- Whether seating, stages and fittings in an auditorium may be moved at all
- Whether the fair runs indoors, outdoors or across both, with a marked plan
Who exhibits at Mumbai venues, and what that changes
Exhibitors at Mumbai venues come mainly from automobile, engineering, pharma, textiles and real estate — the sectors that fill Maharashtra's show floors. Those audiences do not want the same stand, and at university & college campuses the difference shows up in the build rather than in the brief: who needs a closed room, who needs a load-rated floor, who needs water and drainage, who needs nothing but a screen and two chairs.
Where a Mumbai show draws from several of those sectors at once, the stand has to serve two briefs in one footprint. Zoning does it — engineering on the open frontage where it needs to be seen, pharma in the pocket behind where it needs to be discussed — and the space plan below is where that gets decided.
Mumbai's sector mix and what each needs from a stand
| Sector | What the stand has to do |
|---|---|
| Engineering | An engineering audience reads drawings and specifications, so the stand needs a technical wall, a sample or cutaway to handle, and a table with chairs where a quote can actually be discussed. |
| Pharma | A pharma audience talks in private. A closed meeting corner, lockable sample storage, a wipe-clean dispensing counter and literature capacity matter more than open display area. |
| Textiles | Textile buyers handle everything. Rail and drape capacity, a fold-and-compare table, true-colour lighting, and a lockable store for the sample ranges that leave the stand each day. |
| Real estate | Real estate sells on models and screens. A scale model on a lit plinth, large visuals at eye height, and several seated pockets where a booking conversation can run twenty minutes. |
| Automobile | An automobile and components audience wants to touch the part. Plan a load-rated display platform, a cutaway or turntable at hip height, and circulation wide enough for a crowd around one vehicle. |
The sectors listed are the ones that drive exhibiting activity across Maharashtra. Where your show draws from more than one of them, the space plan below is where the compromise gets resolved.

Stall sizes and lead times for University & College Campuses, Mumbai
Most stands at a venue like this fall between 9 and 72 sq.m. The table below uses the same formula as our stall planner — storage at 10% of area up to 18 sq.m and 15% above, a meeting corner at 5% unless you are hosting meetings, display taking the remainder — so you can sanity-check a quote against the space you have actually booked.
Read the display column rather than the size column. A 36 sq.m stand carries about 28.8 sq.m of usable display once storage and a meeting corner are taken out, which is the number that decides how much product and how many people the stand can actually hold.
Space, staffing and lead time by stall size
| Stall size | Footprint | Likely layout | Display | Staff | Visitors at once | Build weeks |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 9 sq.m | 3 × 3 m | Inline or corner | 7.6 sq.m | 2 | 3 | 3 |
| 18 sq.m | 3 × 6 m | Inline or corner | 15.3 sq.m | 2 | 6 | 3 |
| 36 sq.m | 6 × 6 m | Corner or three-side open | 28.8 sq.m | 4 | 11 | 4 |
| 54 sq.m | 6 × 9 m | Corner or three-side open | 43.2 sq.m | 6 | 17 | 5 |
| 72 sq.m | 6 × 12 m | Three-side open or island | 57.6 sq.m | 8 | 23 | 5 |
Custom stalls typically run ₹9,000–₹18,000 per sq.m for the build; modular and octanorm construction costs less, and an upgraded shell scheme less again. AV, furniture, flooring, transport and taxes are quoted on separate lines.
Designing a stand that works at University & College Campuses, Mumbai
Campus audiences arrive in waves between sessions, so the stand has to handle a crowd and then nobody. Standing-height counters and a queue that forms inside your footprint work better than seating that sits empty for an hour.
Give people a reason to stop that is not a brochure. A live demonstration, a working product, a short screen loop or something they can physically handle converts far better than signage alone.
Exhibitors here come largely from automobile, engineering and pharma, and an automobile audience has specific expectations: product visible, specification available, and somewhere to talk without shouting. We design for that rather than applying a generic layout.
How a build at university & college campuses runs
01
Read the venue pack
Before anything is drawn we ask for the organiser's pack for your edition: the stand plan with open sides marked, the build-up and dismantle windows, and the rules on height, rigging, fixing and power. At university & college campuses the answer that most often changes a design is the gate, the hour and the academic timetable the build has to fit between.
02
Design to the limits
The concept is then developed inside those limits rather than adjusted to them afterwards. At university & college campuses that means designing for modular sections two people can carry and a lighting load a campus board will actually take from the first sketch instead of retrofitting it to a finished drawing.
03
Build and test in the workshop
Carpentry, metalwork, spray finishing, large-format print and electrical assembly all happen in-house, and the whole stall is assembled once before it ships. That is what turns a short on-site window into enough time.
04
Install, hand over, strike
On site the work is assembly rather than fabrication, which is the whole point of the previous stage. At university & college campuses the install also covers floor protection indoors and reinstatement of grass and paving outside, and the same crew comes back to strike the stand and clear the space.
What else is in Mumbai
The named venue list for Mumbai runs to 8 buildings on top of this one: Bombay Exhibition Centre (NESCO), Goregaon, Jio World Convention Centre, BKC, MMRDA Grounds, BKC, World Trade Centre Mumbai, Nehru Centre, Worli and NSCI Dome, Worli, plus 2 others. Taking each name at its word, they divide into 4 purpose-built exhibition and trade centres, 1 convention centre, 1 open ground or maidan, 1 auditorium, hall or cultural centre and 1 indoor stadium or arena — which is why a stand that worked at one Mumbai venue is not automatically a stand that works at the next.
We also cover 11 venue categories in Mumbai — government exhibition grounds, resort & lawn venues, 5-star hotel ballrooms, convention & banquet halls, open exhibition grounds, mall atriums, university & college campuses, industry association halls, stadium & sports complexes, corporate campus event spaces and industrial estate expo grounds — because most Indian shows outside the top handful of cities happen in a room that was built for something else. Each of those categories has its own access, fixing and power pattern, and each gets its own page.
Named Mumbai venues, read by what each one calls itself
| Venue | Type read from the name | What that implies for a stand |
|---|---|---|
| Bombay Exhibition Centre (NESCO), Goregaon | Purpose-built exhibition or trade centre | In a purpose-built hall you are one of many stands with identical freedoms, so differentiation comes from the things the hall allows and most exhibitors never use: height, light and a clear reason to step in off the aisle.. |
| Jio World Convention Centre, BKC | Convention centre | Banquet halls put stands close together, so the differentiator is usually light rather than size. |
| MMRDA Grounds, BKC | Open ground or maidan | On an open ground your competition is the sky, not the neighbouring stand. |
| World Trade Centre Mumbai | Purpose-built exhibition or trade centre | Hall shows are walked at pace along long aisles, so the stand has to answer what you do from twenty metres and why it matters from two. |
| Nehru Centre, Worli | Auditorium, hall or cultural centre | An auditorium audience is seated for most of the event, which means your stand gets attention in two short windows. |
| NSCI Dome, Worli | Indoor stadium or arena | Stadium shows move a lot of visitors across a wide floor in both directions, so plan flow rather than frontage. |
| CIDCO Exhibition Centre, Vashi | Purpose-built exhibition or trade centre | Hall shows are walked at pace along long aisles, so the stand has to answer what you do from twenty metres and why it matters from two. |
| Bombay Convention & Exhibition Centre | Purpose-built exhibition or trade centre | In a purpose-built hall you are one of many stands with identical freedoms, so differentiation comes from the things the hall allows and most exhibitors never use: height, light and a clear reason to step in off the aisle.. |
A venue's name is a strong hint and not a specification. We confirm height, rigging, fixing, power and hours from the organiser's pack for your edition before design sign-off.

Build-up
Build-up, access and approvals in Mumbai
Build-up in Mumbai usually runs on the organiser's schedule rather than yours, and the practical constraint is access: one loading bay shared by every exhibitor, a lift queue, and a hard stop when the hall closes. We pre-assemble in the workshop and number every panel so our time on site is assembly, not fabrication.
Everything the stand needs — structure, print, lighting, flooring, furniture, AV and the crew to install and strike it — can be bundled into a single itemised quote with one project manager behind it.
What we handle for you
- Organiser drawings, electrical load details and approvals in the format Mumbai organisers ask for
- Design checked against height, rigging, fixing and fire rules before sign-off
- Pre-assembly and electrical testing in the workshop before dispatch
- Transport, installation and an on-site crew inside the build-up window
- Dismantle and clearing the stand inside the dismantle period

Exhibiting elsewhere in Maharashtra
Maharashtra is not a one-city exhibition market. We cover 10 cities in the state — Mumbai, Pune, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Nagpur and Nashik, plus 4 more — with the same workshops, crews and project managers, so a programme that runs across several of them runs on one schedule rather than several.
Because we cover university & college campuses in all 10 Maharashtra cities on our list, a stand designed for this venue type is designed for the state. The structure, the fixing method and the power assumptions carry over; only the footprint and the graphics change.
Running several cities in a season works best with one structure and several graphic sets. The panels are numbered and stored between shows, each city gets its own print and its own organiser paperwork, and the same project manager carries the job from the first show to the last.

FAQ
Venue FAQ
Can you build at University & College Campuses, Mumbai?+
Yes. We build at university & college campuses throughout Mumbai, covering design, fabrication, installation and dismantle inside the organiser's window.
What does a stall at University & College Campuses, Mumbai cost?+
Custom stalls typically range from ₹9,000 to ₹18,000 per sq.m depending on size, finishes and AV; modular and octanorm builds cost less. Share your stand size and show dates for an itemised quote.
Can you provide AV, lighting and furniture at University & College Campuses, Mumbai?+
Yes — LED walls, screens, lighting, furniture, flooring and carpeting can be bundled with the stall build on a single quote.
What are the build-up timings at University & College Campuses, Mumbai?+
Build-up windows are set by the organiser for each show rather than by the venue alone, so we confirm them in writing for your edition and plan the build — including night shifts if needed — around them.
Do you handle approvals for University & College Campuses, Mumbai?+
Yes. We prepare dimensioned drawings, electrical load details and structural documents to the organiser's format, and check the design against the venue's height, rigging and fire rules before fabrication.
Can you work to a shell scheme at University & College Campuses, Mumbai?+
Yes. Where the organiser supplies shell scheme panels we upgrade them with printed fabric or vinyl, raised flooring, spotlights and a branded counter, which lifts the stand a long way at modest cost.
Is power a constraint on a campus venue?+
Often. Campus distribution is shared with the building's normal use and the allocation per stand is modest, so we keep lighting on LED, declare any heavy load to the estate office in advance, and design the stand so that it still reads well on a small supply.
Can graphics be reused for next year's campus fair?+
Yes, if the stand is built for it. Frame-and-skin construction lets the structure be stored and re-skinned with new graphics, which is the main reason annual fairs end up cheaper in the second year than the first.
Do you design differently for automobile exhibitors here?+
Yes. Mumbai's show calendar is driven by automobile, engineering, pharma, textiles and real estate, and the sector decides the fundamentals — how much product has to be on open display, how private the meeting space needs to be, whether the floor has to carry load and whether water, drainage or three-phase power are required. We brief against the sector before the identity.
Can the same stand be used at another Maharashtra venue?+
Usually, if it is built for it. We cover 10 Maharashtra cities including Mumbai, Pune, Navi Mumbai and Thane, and a frame-and-skin stand can be stored, re-skinned with new graphics and rebuilt at the equivalent venue elsewhere in the state. Say so at design stage, because a reusable stand is detailed differently.
What is the biggest risk at university & college campuses?+
Discovering a constraint after fabrication. Campus power is modest and shared with the building's normal use, so a lighting load designed for an exhibition hall will not run here. That is why we ask for the access route, the fixing rules, the power allocation and the build-up window in writing before anything is cut, rather than treating any of them as a site problem.
